12 - Provincie Limburg (NL)

Limburg is one of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands and is located in the southeast of the country.

It is sometimes called Dutch-Limburg when it is necessary to make a distinction with the Flemish province of the same name. The provincial government consists of Provincial States, Provincial Executive and the King's Commissioner.

The government in the provinces is supported by the officials. They prepare the plans and carry out the decisions of the board. At the head of the provincial organization is a provincial secretary / general manager.

The provinces form the link between the municipalities and the empire and are therefore called the middle management. They simply carry out the tasks that are too big for municipalities and too small for the government. The provinces often cooperate with the other authorities (national, municipalities and water boards) and with companies and social organizations.
